As a boy Grant really wanted to be a footballer, since his childhood was basically spent kicking a bag of wind around, rain or shine. However, he plumped for an acting career when he decided to take Theatre Studies at North Hertfordshire College. It was then on to ALRA for a three-year acting course, and further years in mime with Desmond Jones and clown with Philippe Gaulier.
After all this and still addicted to the beautiful game, he has worked for the National Theatre, Clwyd Theatre Cymru, Peter Hall, Trestle, Hampstead Theatre, Basingstoke Haymarket, Theatre Royal Bath, PW Productions and Ultima Vez. He is also a core member of the Rude Mechanical Theatre Company, a commedia d'ell arte troupe that is arguably the best outdoor company in England. He plays guitar, mandolin and trombone.
